Last Mothers Day I woke up on Castaway Cay; it was the first stop of our Transatlantic Crossing. The day couldn't have been more perfect, of course for me a day at Castaway Cay is seventh heaven, but this particular day was beyond amazing. The weather was splendid--not too hot with light sea breezes keeping the humidity at bay. Lunch was fantastic; "Cheeseburgers in Paradise!" And the knowledge that we were on our way to Europe made this stop at Castaway Cap very exciting!
This Mothers Day I woke up at home--the weather was warmish, the dogs were barking, and I was feeling, in general, quite sorry for myself. Now I realize I cannot spend every special day basking in the glory of the Bahamian sun, but that doesn't keep me from wishing it could be so. After all, I'm *Disney* people--I believe in fairies, magic, and the power to make all my dreams and wishes come true!
After finishing breakfast in bed, that had been lovingly made for me by my husband and children, I settled in at the computer to complete some paper work for a booking I had made on Friday. When I arrived at Disneytravelagents.com, I was in for a very nice surprise; Special Agent Rates for Disney Cruise Line's Mexican Riviera sailings! Now, I had given up on the idea of this cruise; we had just done the Transatlantic Crossing...eight month prior to that we had been aboard the Disney Wonder for her 11 night Southern Caribbean voyage, 9 months prior to that we had taken a Disney Magic Eastern Caribbean cruise...combined with air fare and other trip expenses we had decided NOT to take a Mexican Riviera cruise...we had agreed, it had been contemplated and nixed...it was not happening. I had accepted this.
But now I was being teased and taunted by the allure of a Disney Cruise at a very affordable, doable rate! I was thrilled...I called to Tim...
To make a long story somewhat shorter, he said "call Disney...Happy Mothers Day!"
The only sad note to this story; this will be a working vacation for me and Tim will not be joining us; "someone has to stay home and pay for this!" Alas, he is correct! This journey will be taken by me, our youngest son, Nicholas, our daughter, Rachael*** (for whom this cruise will be a complete surprise) and my Mother, Marge.
We depart the Port of Los Angeles on May 25th and I will make daily blog updates along the way...I cannot wait; 11 days and counting down!
***an aside; Rachael, who will be 11 on May 23rd, after contemplating all possible birthday gifts, last week, in utter exasperation, declared that she wanted a cruise for her birthday, after all that is what she got last year, why not? She believed me when I said "not this year." She has no idea what's coming! I'll keep you posted!
